Alan Greenspan's been doing things to the US economy, they say. National growth forecasts have begun to drip of pessimism, it appears. So, the placements honeymoon has ended for B-Schools, right?

Put into context, placement week of the third batch at IIMK has not disappointed. 97% of the batch, placed on the First Day itself. Average salaries crossing 6 lakhs excluding ESOP's offered by many of the IT firms. 71 offers made to 55 students (out of 57 students) on the first day alone alone. There is only so much that statistics can capture. Like the waves of elation fluttering through the student community even as we type these words. Rarely does a single event of a few hours capture in all its entirety so much joy, amazement and euphoria as IIMK has seen in the past few hours. It has been a remarkable day for the fledgling B-School. IIMK has finally come of age.

Among companies whose offers were accepted were HSBC, Citibank, Arthur Anderson, GE Caps, Banque Nationale de Paris, HLL, Asian Paints and Ramco, HCL Infosystems. Meanwhile, the placement process is still on, though there aren't many people laying bets on its longevity.
